Polygon Labs has proposed upgrading Polygon PoS to become a zkEVM Validium as part of the Polygon 2.0 roadmap. This upgrade would introduce zero-knowledge proofs to verify transaction batches, dramatically improving scalability. Validiums can process 9,000 or more transactions per second while posting only compact validity proofs back to Ethereum.
