About Polygon PoS

Polygon PoS relies on a set of validators who stake POL tokens to participate in the consensus process. These validators are selected deterministically based on their staked deposit size. Block producers rotate among the top validators to propose and confirm new blocks on the sidechain.

About Polygon zkEVM

Polygon zkEVM uses a permissionless Consensus Contract that coordinates Sequencers (who batch and propose transactions) and Aggregators (who generate and submit ZK validity proofs). This model does not require staking or special validator roles, making it more decentralized by design.


PoS Validators

Polygon PoS validators stake POL tokens and are selected based on their stake size to produce blocks.

Sequencers

In Polygon zkEVM, Sequencers batch transactions off-chain and submit them to the Consensus Contract.

Aggregators
